Learn the Thai Alphabet: Interactive Flashcards with Sound đšđ
Thai has 44 consonants, and each one comes with its own keyword. Thai children learn them all with a classic rhyme, from ภŕšŕ¸ŕš (gor gĂ i â chicken) to ฎ ŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸Žŕ¸šŕ¸ (hor nĂłk-hĂťuk â owl). These free interactive flashcards help you learn them the same way, with pictures and sound.
How to use the flashcards
Tap or click any card to flip it over.
On the back youâll see the keyword and a picture that help you remember the letter.
Youâll also hear the letter read aloud, for example âgor gĂ iâ.
Tap the card again to flip it back.
Tips for learning
Start small. Learn 5â6 letters a day rather than all 44 at once.
Say it out loud. Repeat each letter and its keyword after the audio.
Test yourself. Look at the letter on the front and try to say its name before you flip the card.
Notice the pairs. Some letters sound the same, such as ภand ภ(both âkorâ). They belong to different consonant classes, which affects tones. Weâll cover this in our lessons.
No sound?
The audio uses your deviceâs built-in Thai voice. If you canât hear anything:
Check that your volume is on and your device isnât on silent.
Try a different browser (Chrome or Safari work best).
On Windows or Android, you may need to add Thai as a language or speech voice in your device settings.
